Our Story

How it all started...

RiverWind Church was started in 1999, when Scott Farmer, Jarrod Haase, and Derek Clark sensed the Lord's directing to plant an SBC church in Newburgh, Indiana.  In the beginning, services were conducted in Clark's living room giving new meaning to the idea of a 'local' body of believers!  Not long after those initial stages of the church RiverWind began construction on their own building on Vann Road in Newburgh, just east of Castle High School.

The Lord provides...

Facing the challenge of a growing congregation, the members of RWC were awaiting an answer to what the Lord had next.  As He always does, God provided a solution to the space problem when another church congregation down the road found themselves in need of a smaller, more manageable space.  After much prayer the leadership of RiverWind decided to offer their church building to this congregation for free.  RWC then assumed the building and property  located at 6288 Vann Road, and as a result, two church congregations were provided with exactly what they needed.  The Lord provides for His Church!

Where we are headed...

In 2023 Riverwind Church rolled out its new church vision.  A vision prompted by the unfortunate reality that the contemporary church in the West has largely lost its way.  Western culture has slidden into darkness and this is primarily because the Church has settled for filling seats through Christian-themed entertainment rather than filling hearts with the Word of God.  At RiverWind, we desire to be a church centered on the faithful teaching of God's Word where it's members are living on-mission with the work that has been given to us as disciples of the Savior.  This vision is summarized in 3 words:

KNOWING. GROWING. GOING.

We want to be a church centered around,  KNOWING God, especially as the Spirit has revealed Him in the Person of Jesus Christ and his gospel.  GROWING in both our knowledge of Him and his gospel, and in love for him and each other.  GOING with this knowledge and love to proclaim the gospel message to a hurting world.
